Invitation to the International Union of Microbiological Societies - IUMS 2017 by A/Prof Lee Yuan Kun, and Dr Justin Chu

On behalf of the Organising Committee of IUMS Congresses 2017, we extend a hearty welcome to all microbiologists to Singapore. This is the first time IUMS Congresses being held in Asia outside Japan, at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, from 17 – 21 July 2017. 

IUMS 2017 comprises of three international congresses: the 15th International Congress of Bacteriology & Applied Microbiology; the 15th International Congress of Mycology and Eukaryotic Microbiology and the 17th International Congress of Virology. These congresses are co-located at ONE venue, making it accessible for interdisciplinary, exchange of knowledge and opinions of professionals from academia, industry and government, and fostering international collaborations. 

There are 3 keynote, 4 bridging sessions, over 20 plenaries and 30 workshop sessions by international scientists who will discuss all aspects of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology - from   research findings, emerging trends in microbiology, research tools and many more.

Hosting in Singapore, a melting-pot of cultures and multiracial-diversity, the country has one of the busiest airport and best connected in the world - handling over 100 airlines flying to some 300 cities, thus, flying into Singapore is easily accessible. It is also a vibrant island-city offering rich history, multicultural heritage, culinary experiences and many more, that gives the country a unique character.

We are excited about this meeting as well as the opportunities for scientific and social interactions with colleagues from the region and around the world.
